I wonder why so many people are so intense and focused on this subject when this is only the result of a greater problem. When one becomes so focused upon "Pro-Life" they can become blind to the plight of a woman who has to choose between her life and the life of her unborn baby, or if the baby is found to have such deformities that the level of life is what is questioned by the parents. These are serious life changing decisions that are rarely taken loosely and are battled with great intensity. And if a woman does choose to give up her life for the life of her child, should this belief be imposed upon all people? Many times one who stands so stringently on "Pro-Life" becomes deaf to the mothers who have endured this, and many that are stringently "Pro-Choice" are all caught up in the argument of their "rights" or "freedoms" and remain deaf to the unborn and the issues regarding the morality of such decisions.
There will always be variables and to those who have turned to abortion there is one thing that is clear: no church or person of God should reject this person but embrace the person with care and compassion to help ease their pain. There will always be variables and exceptions to this law, and returning back to the "butchery" that existed prior to the legalization of abortions would be just as horrifying. It is these variables that we need to speak of, but let us not get ourselves so caught up in debate that we do not hear the other side. I find the passion that this issue promotes and this fight is best off being directed into a "Pro-Active" position. Fighting anthrax without finding the source can be deadly to many people, so let's go to the source and address this problem there.
